The UP Mindanao Human Resource Development Office gave a seminar on Data Privacy and Cyber Security on November 29, 2023, for employees and faculty members. Engr. Albert C. Gabriel from the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) Region-XI Cyber Security Bureau served as a resource speaker for the event.

The seminar objectives are to empower employees to handle sensitive and confidential information, secure employees' data from being re-identified over time, and meet regulatory requirements.

"Cyberattacks and data breaches have serious consequences," said Chancellor Murao. "These attacks can undermine confidence in our institutions, breach confidentiality, and break trust. We should go beyond simple custodianship of data – we should safeguard the privacy and integrity of the information entrusted to us," she said.
