To all our freshmen, a special and warm welcome to the University of the Philippines, Mindanao. From a pool of over 100,000 applicants to UPCAT, you have qualified to be the new Iskolar ng Bayan. Congratulations to the 390 new freshmen of UP Mindanao.

We are deeply honored that you have chosen UP Mindanao to be your academic home for the next 3 or 5 years.

The UP Mindanao administration entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with DTI-Region XI on August 20, 2024, to establish the Center of Research Supporting AI and Robotics (CORSAIR): AI and Robotics FabLab on the UP Mindanao campus. 

Chancellor Prof. Lyre Anni Murao signed the MOA on behalf of UP Mindanao, with Assoc. Prof. Cinmayii Manliguez, chairperson of the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science (DMPCS), signing as the witness.

UP Mindanao Convocation 2024 Highlights Inclusivity and Regional Representation

The University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao community officially welcomed its newest batch of first-year students during the 2024 First-Year Convocation on 19 August 2024, with emphasis on inclusivity, regional representation, and opportunities for students from minorities and geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA).

UP Mindanao served as the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) Center for Davao City for UPCAT 2025, which was held nationwide on August 10 and 11, 2024.

The UP Office of Admissions and UP Mindanao staff prepared for the anticipated 1,700 examinees from Davao City and the nearby areas for the four sessions over the two days.

During the testing period, the UP Mindanao campus was closed to all constituents to allow the examinees to use it exclusively.

After the test sessions, UP Mindanao student volunteers continued the UP Mindanao tradition of collecting the used pencils for re-use by pupils in the Pahinungod beneficiary schools and in the UP Land Reservations.
