UP Mindanao Chancellor Lyre Anni Murao spoke of UP Mindanao's expansion plans and fellow alumni reported their activities at the UP Alumni Association's OneUP Davao-Mindanao Leg Alumni Gathering and Fellowship on October 12, 2024.

The reports were heard by an audience composed of UP President Angelo Jimenez, UP Alumni Regent Robert Aranton, UPAA VP Fernando Sanchez, UPAA directors Benjamin Muego, Ma. Racelyn Marasigan, and Jeff Coronel, UP Mindanao Foundation president Zony Reyes, alumnus Hon. Isidro Ungab, and some 120 alumni from UP Mindanao and other campuses.

UP Mindanao faculty, REPS, and staff took the Microsoft 365 Training Workshop on October 4, 2024, as provided by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The training is designed to maximize UP's subscription to Microsoft 365. The training was hosted by SoftwareOne, Microsoft Licensing Solution Provider, and covered the following topics:

The training aligns with the UP Strategic Plan for Digital Transformation. 

The UP Mindanao volleyball team to the Inter-Agency Sportsfest

The Inter-Agency Sportsfest has moved to UP Mindanao, specifically at the Davao City-UP Sports Complex, beginning October 4, 2024. The volleyball games, composed of mixed male-female teams, opened the competitions in the venue. UP Mindanao won its first game over the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), 2-0. Volleyball and futsal games will be played during the week of October 7, and the finals will be on October 14, 2024.  

The UPMin Mobile Legends team in action

On October 1, 2024, the UPMin Mobile Legends team defeated DTI-XI in the final round and earned a third-place finish with a 3-2 win-loss record.

Chancellor Murao issued OC-Administrative Order –LAEM 2024 – 145 – v00, dated 23 September 2024, constituting the Building Safety and Hazard Assessment Committee. The committee is tasked with conducting a building safety and hazard assessment of all academic, administrative, student, and faculty housing buildings on the campus.

 The committee comprises personnel from the Physical Plant and Campus Planning offices, namely Engr. Cesar Estocado as chairperson, with Ar. Jean Marie Juanga, Ar. Oliver Telmo, Ar. Tricia Sardinia-Peek, Engr. Isaac Muncada, and Engr. Edmund Gemelo, and Engr. Rodel Reponte.

The chancellor's administrative order is consistent with UP President Jimenez's Memorandum No. PAJ 24-23, dated 16 September 2024, directing the chancellors, the UP Tacloban dean, and the PGH director to conduct a comprehensive building safety and hazard assessment in their respective units.

The committee scheduled its inspection for the first and second weeks of October 2024, and submit its report by 30 October 2024.
